Installing and Viewing Software Updates to DMD20, DMD20LBST, DMD2050, or DMD50 Modems
To view the installed options on a DMD20, DMD20LBST, DMD2050 or DMD50:
- Go to the top level SYSTEM menu.
- Push the down arrow then scroll left to HW/FW CONFIG.
- Push the down arrow then scroll left to FEATURES.
- Push the down arrow then scroll left to UPGRADE LIST. The options that are installed are listed under this menu.
- Push the down arrow, then scroll right to view each option (the menus will roll around back to the start when you reach the last one). Each option will show one of the following: INSTALLED (meaning installed); KEY CODE REQ (meaning the key code needs to be purchased to unlock the option); HW & KEY REQ (meaning besides the key code, hardware is also required); HW-CUST SERVICE (meaning the keycode has unlocked the option but there is hardware missing). – Either of the messages that mention “HW” would be in a case where the unit does not have the appropriate hardware already installed to support the option. An example of this would be if you enter a keycode to enable a TURBO option but a TURBO card is not installed in the unit.
If you will be purchasing an upgrade for the modem, you will need to give your sales contact the unit’s serial number and also the unit’s unique ID #.
To find the unit’s unique ID #:
1) Go to the top level SYSTEM menu.
2) Push the down arrow then scroll left to HW/FW CONFIG.
3) Push the down arrow then scroll left to FEATURES.
4) Push the down arrow. You will see a 12 digit number (actually
three sets of four digits each). This is the unit’s unique ID
# which you need to tell your sales contact if purchasing an
upgrade.
5) After you receive the upgrade code from Comtech EF Data, from
the same screen as #4 above, push the “ENTER” button to
get a flashing cursor.
6) Key in the 12 digit upgrade code received from Comtech EF
Data.
7) Push “ENTER”. The display should then show
“ENTRY ACCEPTED”. NOTE: The 12 digit unique ID # shown
in the display (from step 4) will NOT change. This number remains
the same unless the code entered is a DEMO code. If a DEMO code is
entered, then and only then will the ID # change.
8) Follow the instructions at the top of this page to verify the
desired feature has now been “INSTALLED”.
